La Critics Choice Association anunció este martes las series nominadas a sus premios anuales de televisión, los Critics Choice Awards, elegidos por más de 600 críticos y periodistas de medios de entretenimiento de Estados Unidos.
Y la gran sorpresa fue la presencia de la serie española ‘¡García!’ en la categoría de Mejor serie en lengua extranjera.
La serie de HBO, producida por Zeta Studios para la plataforma, competirá con ‘1899’ (Netflix), ‘Borgen’ (Netflix), ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ (Netflix), ‘The Kingdom Exodus’ (MUBI), ‘Kleo’ (Netflix), ‘My Brilliant Friend’ (HBO), ‘Pachinko’ (Apple TV+) y ‘Tehran’ (Apple TV+).
‘¡García!’ se estrenó el pasado 28 de octubre de 2022 y contó con 6 episodios de una hora. Ya está completa en HBO Max.
Ambientada en una hipotética España actual, la serie está protagonizada por Veki Velilla y Francisco Ortiz y cuenta la historia de una joven periodista de investigación que tropieza por casualidad con una conspiración urdida hace décadas: la existencia de un superagente criogenizado, García, creado en un laboratorio en los años 50 por los servicios secretos del general Franco, quien es descongelado en la época actual.
Los ganadores de los Critics Choice Association se darán a conocer en una gala repleta de invitados de los Critics Choice Awards, que se emitirá en directo en Estados Unidos por The CW desde el Fairmont Century Plaza en Los Ángeles el domingo 15 de enero de 2023.
